Google Rolling Out Its Social Search

On Google’s official blog, they have announced that they will be expanding their Social Search feature in 19 moe languages next week. Social Search was launched about two years ago in October. This feature combine the normal search engine results with data that has been made publicly available by your friend’s using social media tools and activities. These friends that we have referred to are people are on your Google talk contact list, people that you are following on Buzz and Google Reader and any other social media activities that requires you to connect to a Google account. Twitter and facebook can also be used to gather data from public connecions as well.

This modified search engine was part of some bad publicity. Facebook used third parties to write negative stories about this feature in the press due to serious privacy concerns and more importantly becuasse Goole can access information frm Facebook without having to ask for permission. So far, Google has decided that silence is the best way to go about it, but we have noticed that in their latest log post Twitter has been mentioed quite a few times whereas Facebook is nowhere to be found.
